Extended Aθáta Lexicon

If you want to derive additional words for Aθáta, feel free to add them. Collaborative lexicography rules!

  • Items marked with a star* were already present in the original language description by RHaden.
  • Morphological alternations are indicated as follows:
    • The citation form of nouns is the unpossessed singular. The morphology column also lists the unpossessed plural and the 3sg possessed plural in order to show where stem alternation occurs and how it manifests itself. For mass nouns which have no plural forms, the 3sg possessed singular is given instead, written in italics.
    • Verbs are given as bare active stems. The stem class of the verb is indicated in the type column: a simple v. signifies that the passive stem is regularly built by shifting stress to the final syllable of the root, and v.L indicates that the passive stem is built with an infixed -l- ("l-extension"). Recent borrowings and newly-coined words usually add -l- and shift stress if polysyllabic; this is labelled v.SL, with the passive stem given in the morphology column.
    • Some stress-shifting verbs elide a vowel in the passive stem; if such occurs, the shortened form is listed. Also remember that the habitual passive of verbs without l-extension is built on the (perfective) active stem.
    • Some verbs have a distinct habitual active stem, which is also given in the morphology column (with preposed hab).
    • Certain verbs are treated as fully irregular; these are marked as (irr.) in the morphology column, and their aspect/valency forms are given at the end of this lexicon.
