Proto-Coastal-Western (or PCW for short) is a language of the Western language family, spoken c. -1800 YP in the eastern half of the Lukpanic coast. It is the common ancestor of the coastal branch of the Western languages. Most descendants of PCW have been heavily influenced by languages of the Lukpanic group; however, there are no clear traces of this in PCW itself. It is therefore likely that increased contact between Coastal Western and Lukpanic peoples did not occur before the breakup of PCW.
